Samsung promotes non-payment NFC applications…

Part of their Next Big Thing campaign, this ad is clearly trying to show the public that NFC is much bigger than payments. And heres why: recent research by Clear Channel showed that the importance of NFC functionality in a respondent’s next phone doubled from 36% to 70%, but only after they showed them what NFC was via demonstration.

Classic case of “you dont know what you want until the other guy has it”.
