Hot new trend: Digital storefronts

Rebecca Minkoff, Toms and Kate Spade are bringing fashion into the future. They are all using a technology that looks much like a giant flatscreen computer that enables customers to walk up, swipe through products, make selections and purchase through Pay Pal.

Ebay is the mind behind these “shoppable store fronts,” which act somewhat like an ATM or vending machine, but are much more glamorous with glossy photos of apparel, footwear and accessories. You can find these screens at the Westfield San Francisco Centre shopping mall, but I am sure that is just the start. This is just another great example of omnichannel technology at work, helping designers gain important data and sales from their customers.
